Story: The two pictures submitted reflect the deep religious devotion of my grandmother, a devout Christian who was knighted by the church in recognition of her unwavering faith and service. In the first image, she sits proudly beside the altar she built in her home—a sacred space she carefully arranged as a daily place of worship and reflection. The altar, adorned with candles, crucifixes, and religious images, captures her spiritual discipline and the central role of faith in her life.
The second image shows the iconography on the interior of the front door of out family home in Benin. It is rich with religious symbols and biblical imagery, a visual reminder that our household is grounded in Christian beliefs. The placement of these sacred images at the entrance of our home signifies our commitment to faith as a guiding force, both spiritually and culturally.
Together, these photos serve as powerful testimony to the role of Christianity in shaping our identity, values, and everyday practices. In Lagos, where faith is deeply woven into the fabric of society, my grandmother’s life and her home reflect a legacy of religious conviction that continues to inspire us.
