About Us

Our Mission

Through memory work and storytelling and creative curation, We The Diaspora creates space for diaspora  to honor their legacies. We believe that in a world where erasure threatens our stories, the act of preserving our voices, photographs, and experiences becomes both personal healing and cultural resistance.

"We The Diaspora was born in 2020, during a time when images of Black death dominated our screens. I found myself yearning for something different—a space that celebrated the fullness of our lives, the everyday moments of joy, resilience, and connection that have always defined us. What started as curating beautiful Black life on my personal Tumblr became something deeper: a calling to help our communities engage in the sacred work of memory keeping. For years, I've been recording oral histories with my own elders, discovering how these conversations become bridges between past and present, revealing the threads that connect us all.”

What We Do

Our work spans from helping communities archive cherished memories to designing storytelling campaigns and hosting community-centered workshops—always grounded in one belief: our stories connect generations and build bridges between the past and present.

Our Vision

Every photograph shared, every story recorded, every memory honored contributes to a larger tapestry of who we are across the diaspora. This is memory work as love practice. This is storytelling as legacy building. This is how we ensure future generations inherit not just our struggles, but our joy.

Unite Through Stories

Be part of a collective rooted in memory, where we celebrate the stories that shape us and the legacy that unites us.
