Jaelyn “Yaya” Hill’s Family Memory

1979-1980, Honduras

Memory:
This is a portrait of my grandmother and her two first born daughters (my mom and aunt). There wasn’t much going on in the photo, it was just a normal day in Limon-Colon, Honduras. This was taken before they immigrated to the United States about 12 years later.

(My family is Garifuna- black people whose slave ship crashed on the island of Saint Vincent and then later, British troops exhiled and abandoned us in Honduras.)
